Banned Books Month

Celebrate the freedom to read!
Banned Books 2016
Banned Books Week is officially the last week of September, but we are extending it for the entire month.

Throughout September, we will have displays and activities highlighting this form of censorship.
  • Take your mugshot with your favorite banned book.
  • Discover the assorted reasons books have been banned ("The Diary of Anne Frank" was cited as "too depressing").
  • Learn about the recent closing of a bookstore in Ashland because of a banned book display.
Learn about books that have been removed or challenged in schools and libraries in the United States every year. Some you might agree with, and others will surprise you.

Find out more at the American Library Association's Banned Books Week website.
