September Artist of the Month: Haley Scoggins

Every month we feature artwork by a different local artist. September's Artist of the Month is Haley Scoggins. Her paintings are displayed on the Art Wall behind the New Books shelves.

Here she is in her own words:

*****
My name is Haley Scoggins I'm 14 years old, I have a passion for riding horses and playing basketball. I am currently a freshman in high school and I'm hoping to take some art classes there. The high school has a choir that I'm going to participate in.

I have loved to paint since I was old enough to hold a paintbrush. My style of art is blending colors and the colors I use are dependent on my mood. I use a lot of blue which means I was calm and/or tired.

One of my pieces should look like an island, that island was based off of Mako island in Australia. It reminds me of an old TV show that I used to watch, but if I were to say one word about it, I would say "Mystical".

I have loved to blend colors that usually don't mix. I also loved splatter paint but it was harder than I expected because the colors mix into a brown mess
