In general, online reference is best suited to questions that can be answered concisely from common reference sources. Questions that can be answered with a statistic, name or definition are ideal. We will look up your answer and e-mail a reply. Please allow up to 48 hours for a response.

If your question needs a more extensive answer, you should expect a reply that directs you to specific web resources, an invitation to call or come into the library to explore an answer, or a referral to another agency or library.

As always, we will fax shorter documents when appropriate.
